Dr. Arie Dosoretz is proud to help lead the charge in bringing advanced cancer care to the Gulf Coast as part of Southwest Florida Proton. With a deep commitment to innovation and patient-centered care, he believes every individual should have access to world-class treatment options like proton therapy.
Dr. Dosoretz earned his MD and MBA from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and the Wharton School of Business. He completed his residency at Yale University’s New Haven Hospital in the Department of Therapeutic Radiology. A Fort Myers native, he returned to his hometown in 2015 and dedicated himself to advancing cancer care in the region. At Advocate Radiation Oncology, a trusted partner of Southwest Florida Proton, he provides exceptional care and works collaboratively to deliver individualized, innovative cancer treatment.
As a leader in radiation oncology, Dr. Dosoretz brings extensive experience in comprehensive cancer care. He is a published researcher in nationally renowned peer-reviewed journals, as well as a member of the American Society for Radiation Oncology and the American Society of Clinical Oncology. Additionally, he maintains a close relationship with prominent academic researchers, including Yale’s COPPER Center.
Fluent in Spanish, Dr. Dosoretz values connecting with and supporting the diverse communities of Florida. In his downtime, he enjoys spending time with his wife and three children. An avid runner and outdoor enthusiast, he can often be found exploring nature or fly fishing.
Dr. Todd Pezzi developed an interest in oncology at a young age, inspired by the impact cancer had on his own family. Passionate about advancing cancer care through innovative treatments, Dr. Pezzi combines his expertise in radiation therapy with the latest technologies to offer patients at both Southwest Florida Proton and Advocate Radiation Oncology personalized, effective care options. His approach centers on providing the highest standard of care tailored to each patient’s unique needs and goals.
Dr. Pezzi earned his bachelor’s degree from Pennsylvania State University and then obtained his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine. Additionally, he received his MBA at Rice University’s Jones Graduate School of Business and began his medical career with a year of residency in internal medicine. He completed his radiation oncology residency at the prestigious University of Texas MD Anderson Center, where he published nearly 40 peer-reviewed manuscripts in leading oncology journals. It was at MD Anderson where he initially was trained in proton therapy.
He has knowledge and expertise to treat all types of cancers and solid tumors with traditional radiation (IMRT/IGRT/VMAT) and proton therapy (IMPT), however he has an interest in prostate cancer. He is also the first physician on the west coast of Florida to bring proton therapy for prostate cancer to the region, setting a new standard for advanced prostate cancer care. He has treated thousands of patients in his career with radiation therapy for prostate cancer with both proton radiation as well as traditional radiation, and uses all of the most modern and advanced techniques available to ensure every patient is receiving a world-class radiation protocol, to maximize the chance of not only long term cancer control, but also minimizing the risk of short and long term side effects. He works closely with all the local physicians who treat prostate and other types of cancer.
In his free time, Dr. Pezzi enjoys spending time with his wife, daughter, and their two dogs. He is an avid traveler, a loyal Philadelphia Eagles fan, and loves exploring local restaurants and restoring vintage cars.
Dr. Shannon MacDonald is an internationally recognized leader and expert in the field of proton therapy and is dedicated to advancing cancer care through innovative treatments. As the Medical Director at Southwest Florida Proton, Dr. MacDonald oversees clinical operations, patient services, and strategic planning while ensuring the highest standard of care for patients.
Before joining Southwest Florida Proton, Dr. MacDonald was an associate professor of radiation oncology at Harvard Medical School while serving as the Director of the Base of Skull and Sarcoma Services and proton therapy liaison at Massachusetts General Hospital. Her expertise includes the treatment of breast, pediatric, and base-of-skull tumors and sarcomas.
Dr. MacDonald earned her bachelor’s degree in biology from Boston College before obtaining her Doctor of Medicine degree from the Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine. She went on to complete her internship in internal medicine at Mount Auburn Hospital and a residency in radiation oncology at the New York University Grossman School of Medicine, where she served as chief resident during her final two years.
An accomplished researcher and presenter, Dr. MacDonald has been published in countless prominent peer-reviewed journals. She is also a fellow of the American College of Radiation Oncology and the American Society of Therapeutic Radiation Oncology.

Senior Director of Proton Medical Physics
Mark Artz, Ph.D., MBA, DABR is a nationally recognized leader in proton therapy physics and operations, dedicated to advancing cancer treatment through precision technology and program development.
As senior director of Proton Medical Physics at Southwest Florida Proton, Mark oversees the comprehensive physics operations for the first proton therapy center on Florida’s west coast. He brings an exceptional track record of leadership, having successfully commissioned and operated multiple proton therapy systems across the country. His engineering and business background enables him to optimize both clinical outcomes and operational efficiency. Previous experience includes roles at Provision Proton Therapy Center, ProNova Solutions, ProCure and more.
Mark earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He completed a professional doctorate at the University of Tennessee in just two years while working full-time as a medical physicist. Mark also holds a master’s in business administration in health care leadership from Tennessee’s Haslam Business School.
A prolific researcher, Mark has been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals. He has also contributed significantly to medical physics education, mentoring numerous residents and Ph.D. students. His contributions to operational efficiency have been recognized through multiple clinical awards and professional honors.
Director of Medical Dosimetry
Linnae Campbell, MSHA, MS, CMD, R.T. (R)(T), is a nationally recognized leader in medical dosimetry with expertise spanning proton, photon and research applications. As director of medical dosimetry at Southwest Florida Proton, she leads the design of individualized proton treatment plans that maximize precision while prioritizing patient safety.
Since 2015, Linnae has built a multifaceted background through positions at Washington University in St. Louis, Emory Healthcare, and Northwestern Medicine. Her clinical expertise is matched by her work in process improvement, including a prostate cancer planning project for patients with hip replacements that demonstrated her ability to solve complex treatment challenges.
She earned her bachelor’s degree in radiological science at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, where she went on to complete radiation therapy and medical dosimetry programs. Linnae is certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and is a certified medical dosimetrist through the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board. She has also earned a master’s in health care administration with a concentration on quality improvement.
A nationally recognized researcher and presenter, Linnae serves as president of the American Association of Medical Dosimetrists board of directors and has won numerous awards.
Operations Director
Joseph S. Kascmar, RT(R)(T), MS, MBA, FACHE is a healthcare executive with more than 15 years of leadership experience across health systems, physician enterprises, and investor-backed healthcare platforms. He specializes in building and scaling multi-site operations while aligning clinical excellence with operational performance to support patient-centered care.
Throughout his career, Joseph has held leadership roles at 21st Century Oncology, McKesson, Dartmouth Health, and Cedars-Sinai, guiding organizations through complex transformations including the integration of hospital service lines, oncology programs, and ambulatory networks nationwide. His leadership is grounded in strategic foresight, operational rigor, and a commitment to improving access, efficiency, and consistency of care.
Joseph’s collaborative, execution-focused approach empowers multidisciplinary teams and fosters strong organizational culture. He has guided operational turnarounds, de novo expansions, and joint ventures that reduced wait times, enhanced patient access, and achieved high levels of patient satisfaction.
With a clinical foundation in radiology and radiation therapy, Joseph earned a Master of Science in Health Care Delivery Science from Dartmouth’s Tuck School of Business and a Master of Business Administration from the New York Institute of Technology. He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and continues to advance scalable models of healthcare delivery focused on quality and long-term value.
